How Does Invisalign Work?

Dr Munira Lokhandwala, Starbrite Dental, Providing Invisalign in san jose

Patients who have crooked and misaligned teeth in their smile are often self-conscious about the way they look when they talk, smile, and laugh. The idea of spending years realigning their teeth with traditional orthodontics, in addition to thousands of dollars, is often what keeps adults from considering ways to improve their smile. For individuals who have high-powered careers and business relationships, the reality of metal brackets and wires hiding their teeth is enough of a deterrent to avoid addressing problems with one’s smile. However, with a state-of-the-art invisible treatment such as Invisalign, San Jose dental patients no longer have to fear standard metal braces, and can now embrace dental treatments!

Invisalign, also known as “invisible braces,” is an amazing way to address misaligned teeth. Through computer-aided technology and the use of clear aligner trays, patients can change their smile without having to hide behind metal braces. Treatment can actually be shorter than traditional orthodontic treatments, depending upon the severity of the patient’s case.

How does Invisalign work? Invisalign treatment starts with a computerized, digital impression of your teeth. State-of-the-art software creates a digital replication of your teeth, and can show you before and after images of your smile. These images will be reviewed by you and Dr. Munira, and once the treatment process looks satisfactory to both dentist and patient, the aligner trays are ordered. The length of treatment will determine the number of trays, as these trays are worn for two weeks at a time and are then switched out in order to facilitate movement of the teeth into their appropriate places.

Invisalign trays are worn at all times, with the exception of when you are eating, drinking, brushing, or flossing. What’s great about Invisalign is that the trays are clear and nearly indistinguishable to others, so you can wear your Invisalign trays without feeling self-conscious about the way you look. They do not affect the way you talk since they are extremely thin and comfortable.

Dr. Munia of Starbrite Dental in San Jose has had hundreds of satisfied Invisalign patients over the years, and continues to provide Invisalign treatment for her San Jose area patients.
