Dr. Munira Lokhandwala and her team are proud to offer patients same-day dental restorations such as dental crowns. This is done using a computer-aided system, called CEREC, allows Dr. Munira Lokhandwala and her staff to fabricate restorations such dental bridges, crowns, and veneers right in the dental office with minimal wait. Many patients want to learn how the procedure for CEREC dental crowns is completed.
The CEREC crown procedure starts with preparation. Patients will determine if they need a dental crown, and then preparation begins with the removal of a thin portion of the enamel all the way around the tooth. This is irreversible. Then, digital impressions are made of the tooth, which is entered into the computer and used to create a 3D design of the tooth requiring the crown. This design is used by the CAD/CAM software to mill out a new crown from a block of ceramic. Within approximately 20 minutes, patients will be able to have their new dental crown bonded into place. This eliminates the time and energy needed to book another appointment and wait while the restoration is at a dental laboratory – a process that is used at many other dental practices.
If you live in or around the San Jose or Fremont community and are eager to learn about the advantages of the CEREC crown procedure in comparison to what is available at other dental facilities in the area, contact Dr. Munira Lokhandwala of StarBrite Dental today. She can walk patients through the process to learn about the advantages it provides over traditional methods of making dental restorations.
